Degree Programs

 

Penn State Behrend has many degree programs. There are 31 baccalaureate degree majors, 5 associate degree majors, 4 pre-professional programs, 2 graduate programs, 19 minors, 8 undergraduate certificate programs.

Keeping the adult learner's many different work, family and community responsibilities in mind, Penn State Behrend offers several programs that are available for evening completion.

Undergraduate Evening Programs

Penn State Behrend offers three associate degree programs and one baccalaureate degree for evening completion.

The Associate Degree in General Business (2GBBC) is a 60-credit program that allows for a general overview of several aspects of business. In addition, it provides a stepping stone to all baccalaureate degree programs in business at Behrend College.

The Associate Degree in Letters, Arts, and Sciences (2LABC) is a 60-credit program that allows for a concentration of coursework in the liberal arts/humanities areas. This degree can be used to pursue any of the baccalaureate degrees in Humanities and Social Sciences. 

The Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology (2 MET)  is a 67-69 credit program that is designed to prepare graduates for careers as engineering technicians in industry or for technical sales. The primary focus of this program is the development of fundamental workforce skills. 

The Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology (METBD)  is a 131-credit program  that emphasizes modern industrial practices. The program emphasizes studies in materials, load bearing capability of parts and manufacturing processes and advanced design technology.            

Undergraduate Evening Certificate Programs

Penn State Behrend offers 7 undergraduate certificate programs for evening completion. The certificate programs are designed for the adult learner who wants to upgrade their skills, begin courses in the business or engineering technology area or who wants to begin coursework that will not only complete the certificate but also apply toward majors offered by the Sam and Irene Black School of Business and the School of Engineering and Engineering Technology.

The Sam and Irene Black School of Business offers certificates for those just entering or desiring to enter the business field as well as certificates for those who have a business background and would like to enhance their business skills.

Please note that the Sam and Irene Black School of Business also offers a Financial Planning certificate. This is NOT an evening certificate. For additional information on this certificate, contact Ms. Kay Johnson at knj2@psu.edu.

 

The School of Engineering and Engineering Technology offers certificates for those working in mechanical engineering technology or related fields. This three-tiered certificate option will provide a solid foundation in engineering technology and can lead to an associate or baccalaureate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology

Other options

Penn State also offers a variety of courses and programs through The World Campus. This is an alternative way (on-line and via mail) to obtain Penn State credit for the adult learner who may need options outside of the classroom. 

Credit may also be obtained through the College Level Exam Program (CLEP), Credit by Examination, Credit by Validation or Portfolio Assessment - contact the Admissions Office for information regarding these three methods of credit acquisition.

In addition,  you may want to inquire about non-credit courses and training opportunities available for adults through Penn State Behrend Center for Corporate and Continuing Education.

Companies interested in employee training programs delivered in their shop, store, office or plant, can receive help through the Penn State Behrend Center for Corporate and Continuing Education.
