SAM AND IRENE BLACK SCHOOL OF BUSINESS

Curriculum for Economics Majors

A minimum of 122 credits is required for the Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. Students must earn a grade of C or better in each 300- and 400-level course.

Economics also is offered as an 18-credit minor. This is a particularly attractive option for School of Business students, who earn 6 to 9 credits toward the minor as part of their major studies.

A typical schedule for a first-semester Economics major includes Rhetoric and Composition or Honors Freshman Composition; Techniques of Calculus or Calculus with Analytical Geometry I; one general education course each in the humanities, natural sciences, and arts; and a 1-credit First Year Seminar.

Second semester courses generally include arts, humanities, and natural science general education requirements; Principles of Programming with Business Applications (a management information systems course); and health or kinesiology.
