Penn State Behrend Claims Two AMCC POW -- November 2, 2009

The Behrend Lions claimed two AMCC Player of the Week honors. The league office announces selections each Monday throughout the season.

Kevin Gorny (Erie/McDowell) has been named runner of the week for the blue and white.  Gorny was the individual champion at the AMCC men's cross country championships on Saturday, leading the Behrend Lions to their third consecutive AMCC title.  He posted a time of 28:58.5 for the 8K course.  It was Gorny's second individual league title in his career (he was runner-up in 2008).

Junior Lance Sabol (North Huntingdon/Norwin) has been named men's soccer player of the week.  Sabol netted five goals in a 2-0 week for the blue and white.  He recorded two goals against D'Youville and a hat trick against Pitt-Bradford to help the Behrend Lions cement the #2 seed in the AMCC tournament.  Sabol has also been named ECAC co-offensive player of the week.
