Women's Cross Country Earns Preseason AMCC Recognition The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference released the 2005 preseason Coaches' poll. Penn State Behrend was selected to defend their conference title in women's cross country with Frostburg and Altoona close behind. "It is good to see the respect accorded to our women's team after dominating the league the past four years," said head coach Dave Cooper. "Repeating in 2005 will be a difficult challenge considering a significant injury situation." Behrend had four of the top six finishers in last season race, but none of them return because of graduation and injury. The top two returning runners will be a pair of sophomores, Sara Lucas (Hermitage/Hickory) and Leisl Soergel (Evans City/Butler). The AMCC championship meet will be hosted by Pitt-Greensburg at the Westmoreland County Fairgrounds on Saturday, October 29. The blue and white will kick off the season on Saturday, September 3, at the Westminster Invitational. The event begins at 10:00 a.m. Back to Cross Country News Index
