Ruffo Qualifies for NCAA Championships
"Brad is one of the most determined runners I've ever coached, and his qualifying for Nationals is a product of that determination. He knew exactly what he needed to do from his first day of summer training through his kick to the finish line. He was prepared in every sense of the word. It's hard to predict how someone will do at the national level, but I know he'll do the best he is able," said head coach Dave Cooper. The NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Track and Field Committee has announced the team and individual qualifiers for the 2005 NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country Championships. In order to be eligible to participate in the championship, teams and individuals must qualify in their respective NCAA regions. Twenty-four teams of seven men each were selected to participate in the championships. The top teams from each of the eight regions automatically qualified. Additional at-large berths were awarded based on the following formula: The regions with the first sixteen finishers in the previous year's championship were awarded the additional berths. No region can receive more than five berths. Forty-seven individuals were selected to participate in the championships. All regions automatically qualify the first four individuals not on a team. Additional at-large berths were awarded to those regions with the first fifteen in previous year's championships.
The NCAA Championship will be help Saturday, November 19 at the Methodist
Theological School and Dornoch Golf Club in Delaware, Ohio at 12:00 p.m.
