Penn State Behrend to Host AMCC
Basketball Tournaments in the Junker Center

The Penn State Behrend men's and women's basketball teams with 10-2 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference records have earned the right to host the final four of the AMCC this Friday, February 28 and Saturday, March 1.

The Behrend Lions men's team receives a bye and will play the winner of #5 Frostburg at #4 Lake Erie on Friday at 1:00 p.m. in the Junker Center. The 3:00 p.m. game features the winners of #7 Penn State Altoona at #2 La Roche and #6 Pitt-Greensburg at #3 Pitt-Bradford.

Saturday's finals are set for 1:00 p.m. Wednesday is the first-round of AMCC action at the higher seed sites. Last season Bradford won their first title after losing to Frostburg the previous year, Pitt-Greensburg won back-to-back titles after Behrend won the inaugural crown in 1997-98.

The women's team also earned a bye and will play the winner of #5 Lake Erie at #4 Frostburg at 6:00 p.m. on Friday in the Junker Center. The 8:00 p.m. game has the winners of #7 La Roche at #2 Pitt-Greensburg and #6 Pitt-Bradford at # 3 Penn State Altoona. Saturday's title game is slated for 3:00 p.m. Wednesday is the first-round of AMCC action at the higher seed sites. Four different women's teams have won AMCC titles since the league starting competition in 1997-98. Altoona is a two-time defending champion, with Frostburg winning in 1999-00, Behrend earning the title in 1998-99, and Pitt-Bradford capturing the first-ever women's championship.

Tickets are $4 for adult general admission, $2 for senior citizen, $1 for student general admission without I.D. Tickets may be purchased Monday-thursday morning in the Penn State Behrend Athletics office from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tickets will not be sold by phone. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the door Friday morning. Gates open at noon.
