Q & A With Softball Head Coach Stacy Pondo

What are your general thoughts on how the season has started while down in Florida? Where do you feel like your team stands right now?

The season has started very well for us going 10-0 in Florida.  If we stay focused offensively and defensively then we will continue to make great strides.

Who is performing particularly well for the team right now?

Julie Koman has really helped the pitching staff as a freshman, holding opponents scoreless.  Kristin Macha continues to hit well.  Nikki Kaschauer and Katie Whitby have stepped up in clutch situations.

As you look ahead to conference play, how do you expect to compete within the AMCC?

I believe we are in a good situation going into conference play due to the confidence the team has shown.  The team is striving to make the conference tournament.

Has anybody really surprised you with what they brought back from the offseason/preseason?

The upperclassman have really done a great job to keep the team on track and to keep focused on their goals.

What is the biggest challenge as your team returns home and prepares for the heart of your schedule?

To keep focused and not let the record go to our heads.

What are the key match-ups coming up in your schedule?

Playing good against Bethany and Westminster would give us a huge boost going into the start of AMCC season.

What are your expectations for the end of the season and into the postseason?

Our goal is to play hard throughout the remainder of the season, head into the conference tournament and hope to get a postseason bid from there.
