Penn State Behrend's Lubic Named AMCC Softball Player of the Week

Penn State Behrend outfielder Lauren Lubic (Bridgeville/South Fayette) was named the AMCC Softball Player of the Week for the week of May 5.  The senior came through big in her last AMCC Tournament, leading the effort as the blue and white rallied for five straight wins to storm back and capture the 2008 AMCC Championship.

In the AMCC Tournament (May 2-4), Lubic batted .370 (10-for-27) with four doubles.  She scored eight runs in the tournament to go with six key RBIs.  Five of her ten hits in the tournament came in the final three games, helping to secure the second AMCC title in three seasons for the Behrend Lions.  This is the first conference player of the week honor for Lubic this season.

The blue and white (33-12) now head to the NCAA Tournament to compete in opening round play in an eight-team regional on Thursday, May 8 at Ithaca College.  Behrend will face Ramapo (33-10) at 4:00 p.m. and play again on Friday in a game to be determined based on Thursday's results.
