Swimming and Diving Continue to Rack up AMCC Weekly Awards

The Behrend Lions have dominated the swimming and diving athlete of the week awards throughout the year.  The blue and white had three members of its men's and women's team named as the athlete of the week for the week of February 2, 2009.

Divers Krystal Kovach (Scott Township/Chartiers Valley) and Stephen Graves (McMurray/Peter's Township) have both won the award for the sixth time. 

Kovach was once again solid on the diving board.  Against Mount Union, Kovach finished second in the first one meter diving event with a score of 158.20 and third on the second one meter diving event with a score 178.60.  Graves would continue his solid performances with first place finishes in both one meter diving events against Mt. Union.  Graves would win with scores of 145.85 and 203.25 respectively.

While the diving core of the blue and white have seen the athlete of the week award before senior Katie VanEpps (Titusville/Titusville) will be joining them for the first time this year.  VanEpps had two first place finishes against Mount Union College, winning the 200 fly (2:28.13) and the 500 free (4:49.58). The senior was also a part of the winning 400 freestyle relay. Against Grove City and Pitt-Bradford, she was third in the 400 IM and was a member of the winning 200 freestyle relay.

The Behrend Lions will be competing in the AMCC Championships hosted by Grove City on February 12-14.  The blue and white look to repeat as AMCC champions.
