Penn State Behrend Swimmers and Divers Earn AMCC Recognition
The Penn State Behrend Swimming and Diving season is under
way. With a strong weekend three swimmers and divers where tabbed AMCC
performers of the week for the week of November 10th.
Krystal
Kovach (Scott Twp/Chartiers Valley) was perfect on the week, wining in
each of her four events against Buffalo State and St. Vincent earning her
the AMCC Diver of the Week. Versus Buffalo State, she scored 230.1
points on the 1-meter, a mere 5.5 points ahead of the Bengal competitor.
Then on the 3-meter she crushed the competition by 40 points, scoring a
262.1 to break both the team and pool records in the process. She again had
stellar performances in the two 1-meter competitions against St. Vincent,
winning both with 179.2 and 254.15.
On the men's side, junior diver Steve Graves
(McMurray/Peters Twp) was named the AMCC Diver of the Week. Graves
gave two great performances on the board. Graves edged out a win on
the one meter board by two points with a score of 196.5. He would then
go on to win the three meter event handily with a score of 222.80.
The
men would sweep the AMCC swimming and diving awards for the week as
Behrend's Dane Dombrosky (Mt. Pleasant/Mt. Pleasant) was named the
swimmer of the week. Dombrosky had an exceptional weekend. Versus
Buffalo State, he placed first in the 100 Fly (56.54), 500 Free (5:13.02),
and led off the winning 400 Free relay. He returned against St. Vincent to
win the 200 Free (1:54.39) and place second in both the 100 (58.55)and 200
Fly (2:17.12). He was also a member of the winning 200 Free relay.
The Behrend Lions will be
back in the Junker Center pool on November 15, as they take on Allegheny
College at 1:00 p.m. The blue and white will then host AMCC member
Frostburg State on November 22 at 1:00 p.m.
