Kovach, Graves, and Weaver Earn Performer of the Week Honors

The AMCC swimming and diving Performers of the Week have been dominated by the Behrend Lions in the first two weeks of the season.

After a record breaking day in the Junker Center pool against Allegheny sophomore diver Krystal Kovach (Scott Twp/Chartiers Valley) was named the women's diver of the week for the second time.  Kovach reached new heights on the one meter board breaking the school record by ten points to take the one meter event against Allegheny.  Her score of 257.90 was a personal best.  Kovach would also go on to win the three meter event handedly.

On the men's side, the performers of the week were swept by the Behrend men.  Junior diver Steve Graves (McMurray/Peters Twp) once again hit the boards with style, this time vs. Allegheny. His performance on the 1 meter left him 10 points short of a personal best but ahead of the next competitor by 70 points. While failing a triple twisting 1- 1/2 on the 3 meter, he still held on the to the top spot for Behrend.

Finishing the sweep for the men was Josh Weaver (Franklin/Franklin).  The sophomore made waves this weekend with two season-best performances against Allegheny. He won the 200 free (1:52.73) and was a member of the winning 400 free relay. He also helped the blue and white by placing second in the 100 free with a 51.41.

The Behrend Lions will be back in the Junker Center pool on November 22, as they take on conference foe Frostburg State.  The blue and white will then have some time off before they participate in the Fredonia Blue Devil Invitational on December 5-7.
