Allison Mudrey Earns AMCC Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week
Freshman Allison Mudrey (Hermitage/Hickory) was named this week's Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Tennis Athlete of the Week.
Mudrey began the week at home in first singles and doubles against Westminster and Thiel. After winning both doubles matches 8-1 with partner Mindy Calvert (Warren/Warren) and both singles matches in two sets she traveled with her teammates to the AMCC Championships. At Penn State Altoona Mudrey captured the first singles championship by defeating Alison Schwartz of Altoona 6-1, 7-5. She was also the runner's up in first doubles with partner Calvert.
Mudrey's performance at AMCCs wrapped up a terrific freshman campaign. Mudrey moved into the top ten all-time at Behrend in singles and doubles single season wins, going 14-3 in singles and 13-1 in doubles. For the year Mudrey helped lead the team to a 14-3 record and its fifth AMCC title in eight years.
