Seton Hill Upends Behrend 7-2 in Non-Conference Tennis Action The Behrend Lions men's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to Seton Hill on Saturday, March 25 falling to 1-10 on the season. The Griffins captured wins at five of six singles match-ups and two of the three doubles events. "We lost a tough three-setter at first and third singles," said ninth-year head coach Jeff Barger. "Two of the doubles matches were 9-7 and 9-7, and much like the day, could have went either way. It was a close match, but our performance was not good enough." Last week's AMCC Player of the Week Miles Boyea (St. Vincent, WI/Upper Canada) won at first flight doubles with teammate Todd Guarnieri (New Castle/Neshannock). Guarnieri was the only member of the Behrend Lions to claim a singles victory at the fourth flight. Garrett Grenek (Butler/Butler) lost the hard fought second singles 7-5 and 7-5, while Trevor Dougherty (Meadville/Meadvile) lost 7-5 and 7-6 in fifth singles. The netters are in action again on Friday, March 31, when they host Alfred State for 4:00 p.m. match followed by a key AMCC battle against Frostburg State on Saturday, April 1 at 5:00 p.m. Behrend is currently 1-1 in league play while Frostburg is 1-0. |
