Men's Tennis Players Earn AMCC All-Conference Honors

After capturing the 2008 men's tennis AMCC Championship title, numerous Penn State Behrend Lions were named to the 2008 AMCC All-Conference team.  Freshman Elliot Blackstone (Wexford/Pine-Richland) took away Newcomer of the Year award, as well as being named Co-Player of the Year.  Blackstone remained undefeated throughout the 2008 season, marking a 6-0 record in both AMCC singles and doubles play.  He went on to win #2 singles and doubles titles during the AMCC tournament. 

Fellow freshman and doubles teammate Jon Henderson (Upper St. Clair/Upper St. Clair) also received All-Conference honors for his #5 singles play and #2 doubles championship title.  Henderson also stayed undefeated, posting a 6-0 singles and doubles record.  Rounding out the  freshmen award winners was Erkin Nasirli (Baku/Baku Oxford School) made the first-team for #3 singles, while receiving second-team honors in #3 doubles. James Getty (Erie/Harborcreek) and Nasirli united for a 6-0 doubles record receiving second team honors.  

Seniors Jim Palmer (Sharon/Sharon), Miles Boyea (St. Vincent, WI/Upper Canada), and Trevor Dougherty (Meadville/Meadville) were also selected to the All-Conference team.  Undefeated in singles play, Palmer landed himself on the first-team for #4 singles and second team for #1 doubles.  Boyea joined Palmer in doubles play and was honored for #1 doubles as well.  Dougherty had an impressive year, going 5-1 on the 2008 season.  He was honored with a second-team selection in #1 doubles.
