Behrend Volleyball Drops Conference Home Opener to Frostburg

Penn State Behrend found themselves in a tough matchup on Saturday, September 26 against the two-time AMCC defending champion Frostburg State Bobcats.  The Bobcats handled the Behrend Lions in three straight sets on the Junker Center floor.

Behrend battled hard in the first set, but Frostburg held the lead and won 25-20.  Frostburg jumped out to an early lead in the second set and Behrend fought hard to cut the lead to two late in the contest, but Frostburg held off the blue and white for a 25-19 win.  The Bobcats got off to another fast start, and finished out the match in three sets with a 25-21 win.

Sheila Ogden (Grove City/Grove City) had six kills, Alex Johnson (Imperial/West Allegheny) finished with five kills and four blocks, and Mary Sperry (Atlantic/Conneaut Lake) posted five kills and 11 digs.

Frostburg improves to 14-3 overall, and 1-0 in AMCC play.  With the loss, Behrend is now 8-5 overall and 2-1 in the AMCC.  Next up for the Behrend Lions will be a non-conference matchup with the Grove City Wolverines on Wednesday, September 30.  The contest is set for a 7:00 p.m. start and will be taking place at the Junker Center.  The Behrend Lions defeated Grove City on September 12 in the championship match of the Behrend Invitational with the blue and white earning a 3-1 win.
