Behrend Volleyball Picked Second in AMCC Preseason Poll

The Penn State Behrend volleyball team has been picked second in the 2007 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference preseason poll. The recently released poll is voted on by AMCC coaches.

Behrend won a regular season AMCC title in 2006.  The conference championship was captured by Penn State Altoona, who was picked first in the 2007 poll.  Frostburg State, who last won the league title in 2004, was picked to finish third.

Head coach Phil Pisano said, "Our team is very focused on winning another conference championship, but believe several teams in the league will be contending at the end of the season.  We are hungry for the opportunity to compete for the title and determined to work extremely hard toward that goal.  This should be an exciting season and it's one that we are looking forward to."

Rounding out the top six were Lake Erie, Mount Aloysius, and Pitt-Greensburg.  Mount Aloysius senior middle hitter Brianna Baker is the coaches' pick for AMCC Preseason Player of the Year.

The AMCC kicks off conference play on Saturday, September 22.  The conference championship will be Saturday, November 3, hosted by the number #1 seed.  The winner will receive the AMCC's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
