Two Women Earn All-Conference Honors

The Penn State Behrend women's basketball team concluded their season with a 14-13 overall record and finished third in the AMCC Conference Tournament.  The Behrend Lions placed two players on the 2001-2002 women's AMCC All-Conference team.  

Senior forward Erin Phillips was name to the first-team all-conference for the third consecutive year and also tabbed AMCC Player of the Year.  Phillips finished the season averaging 17.5 ppg and 7.6 rpg.  Phillips was also named Newcomer of the Year her freshman year. In her career, Phillips became the all-time leading scorer for both the men's and women's program with scoring 1,581 points, is 1st in scoring average in a career with 14.8 ppg, 1st in field-goal percentage in a career with 53.9%, and 1st in free-throws made in a career with 513.  Senior guard Kate Costanzo was named to the second-team all-conference for the second consecutive year.  Costanzo completed the season averaging 14.0 ppg and 5.0 rpg and surpassed the 1,000-point plateau finishing fourth all-time with 1,055 career points.  Costanzo was named to the Honorable-Mention squad as a sophomore. 

The first-team consisted of Kim Faust of Frostburg, Jillian Klinar of Penn State Altoona, Erin Arnold and Ann Sral of Pitt-Greensburg.  Rounding out the second-team were Jessica Porter of Pitt-Bradford, Sherry Hogue of La Roche, Kim Ebersole and Misty Meredith of Penn State Altoona.   Sherry Hogue of La Roche was named Newcomer of the Year and Carol Gelet of Pitt-Greensburg was named Coach of the Year.
