Penn State Behrend Receives Ticket to ECAC Tournament

For the fourth time is eight years the women's basketball program will be heading to the ECAC Southern Region Tournament after completing the year with the AMCC regular-season title and a 15-12 mark.

Moravian College was selected as Top seed after finishing the regular-season with a 20-7 record. The tournament is a six-team field with first-round, semifinal and championship rounds. Moravian and Lebanon Valley College (19-6) receive first round byes. In the first-round, McDaniel College (19-8) will play Penn State-Behrend (15-12) at 7 p.m. at McDaniel while Swarthmore College (19-7) will play Alvernia College (17-9) at 7 p.m. at Swarthmore on Wednesday, March 5th. The winners will advance to the semifinals where Moravian will meet the winner of Swarthmore-Alvernia at 4 p.m. and Lebanon Valley College will face the winner of McDaniel-Penn State-Behrend at 1 p.m. The semifinal winners will play for the championship on Sunday, March 9 at 1 p.m. The semifinals and championship will be played at Moravian.

First Round - Wednesday, March 3, 2003

No. 6 Penn State-Behrend (15-12) at No. 3 McDaniel (19-8), 7 p.m.

No. 5 Alvernia (17-9) vs. No. 4 Swarthmore (19-7), 7 p.m.

Semifinals - Saturday, March 8th at Moravian Time

No. 1 Moravian (20-7) vs. Swarthmore-Alvernia 7 p.m.

No. 2 Lebanon Valley (19-6) vs. McDaniel-Penn State-Behrend 7 p.m.


Championship Game - Sunday, March 9th at Moravian Time

Two Semifinal Winners 1 p.m.
