01-10-01 Coaches vs. Cancer at Penn State Behrend The men and women's basketball teams will participate in Coaches vs. Cancer on Saturday, January 12, when the host Frostburg State. The women play at 2:00 p.m. with the men tipping off at 4:00 p.m. For every ticket purchased a dollar will be donated to the American Cancer Society. Coaches vs. Cancer unites more than 500 men and women's basketball coaches nationwide who participate in American Society fundraising, advocacy, and cancer control initiatives. The program was established in 1993 by the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches. The Women's Basketball Coaches Association joined the partnership in 1999. The powerful attack on cancer has raised more than $12.5 million since the program's inception. Coaches across the country can make a significant contribution to the American Cancer Society's fight against cancer by participating in a variety of Coaches vs. Cancer activities. Donations raised through the Coaches vs. Cancer program are invested directly in the American Cancer Society's programs in your community. The Coaches program is dedicated to reducing the risk of cancer by using contributions to fund cancer research, education, advocacy, and the services of the American Cancer Society.
