Plastics Training Workshops and Seminars
Introduction to PLC Technology for Plastics Processors

Hands-On Workshop
Instructors: Jerry Lord

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:

This three-day workshop is for molders, setup, and maintenance personnel who need to gain a better understanding of how basic Programmable Logic Control systems operate and how best to maintain and troubleshoot these systems.

EDUCATIONAL GOALS:

This workshop will develop an understanding of how Programmable Logic Control systems operate and how they can be applied to auxiliary equipment in the plastic industry.  The learners will be provided information on how to select various components for the PLC system and how to read, and develop, ladder logic programs.  Troubleshooting measures and preventive maintenance procedures will be explained.  Short demonstrations and hands-on laboratory exercises will also be provided to reinforce the lecture material.

WORKSHOP OUTLINE:

1. Introduction to Programmable Logic Controllers

  • The Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) System
  • The Central Processing Unit (CPU)
  • Input/Output Boards
  • Input/Output Devices

2. Programming Programmable Logic Controllers

  • Programming Tools
