Purpose
The Research Committee advises the Council and administration on means of maintaining viable research and scholarly activities, to review research policies, to recommend the establishment and modification or termination of organized research units, to review sabbatical leave applications, and to determine on an annual basis the recipients of the Behrend College Council of Fellows Faculty Research Award and the Behrend College Council of Fellows Excellence in Outreach Award. The Senior Associate Dean serves as an ex officio member of this Committee.

Standing charge – review sabbatical proposals

Work with the Faculty Affairs Committee to ensure that attempts at external funding and outreach efforts are included in a broader college and school definition of research and scholarship.

Work with the research office to identify barriers to faculty seeking external funding and recommend ways to encourage more faculty members to apply.
