College Teaching Seminar Series - Fall 2008 (PDF version) 1. Promoting Student Critical Thinking Monday session – Oct. 27, 12:15 – 1:30 pm, Reed 114 Inside and outside the university, stakeholders have called for students to be good critical thinkers – but what does that mean? How is it different - if it is different - from what we already do as educators? Dr. Al Warner, Associate Professor of Management, discusses some techniques and approaches.
Monday session – Nov. 17, 4:00 – 5:15 pm, Reed 114 Looking for easy and effective tricks others have used in their classes? Preparing your own teaching strategy requires a lesson to be thoroughly planned, and there is still the risk that it may not turn out well. This session presents you with a bag of tricks observed from Behrend’s classrooms.
Behrend College Teaching Certificate Requirements Faculty members who attend 8 or more seminars or teaching luncheons and complete two reflective written assignments over two years will receive the Behrend College teaching certificate. While this certificate does not constitute teaching "certification," it does document your participation in this program and can be included in your teaching portfolio.
